I first discovered I had a talent for making three-dimensional models during boring lessons at school, when I would create miniature animals from pieces of blu-tac. I was unable to go to art school as my family at the time deemed the life of an artist to be self-indulgent and artists to be incapable of supporting themselves financially. Having no formal art qualifications my unique style has therefore evolved through experimentation and trial and error. Depending upon the size of the sculpture being made I work in either clay first (for larger pieces) or a modelling material called super-sculpey (for smaller pieces). I then either fire the piece as a one-off original, or make a rubber mould and create pieces in cold-cast metal (bronze or copper) for multiple pieces. Along with a passion for sculpting I have a life-long love of animals in all shapes and sizes. I have created a range of animal sculptures including dogs, cats, donkeys and elephants and a range of endangered species such as orang-utans. Both ranges are currently being expanded. All pieces are currently completed in cold-cast bronze but can be done in other cold-cast metals such as copper or aluminium or can be created in ceramic (please contact me if you are interested in other finishes). When an animal sculpture is sold a percentage of the sale goes to the appropriate charities such as the RSPCA, WSPA, Brookes Donkey Sanctuary, Greyhound rescue, and so on. I have also been commissioned on several occasions to create pet portraits (animals past and present) and I am happy to work from photographs (see commissions page) In addition to animals I occasionally sculpt the human form and abstract pieces and I have been commissioned numerous times to create individual portrait busts of children and adults.
